  1. Should have 45% marks for General / Other Backward Classes (OBC) / Specially Handicapped Persons categories.
  2. For Scheduled Category (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) Categories, 40% marks should be obtained.

Note- Candidates who have given their class 12th exam are also eligible for CLAT exam. Such candidates will have to produce proof of having passed their class 12th examination at the time of admission. If the candidate fails to fulfill the eligibility criteria, there the candidature will be withdrawn.

Written exam

Candidates have to appear for the entrance test at the exam centers allotted for CLAT exam. They should carry their admit card for the exam and a valid photo identity card to the allotted exam center. The exam pattern and syllabus are as follows-

  1. The first step towards effective CLAT preparation is knowing the exam pattern and syllabus thoroughly. The more a candidate is familiar with the number, type and nature of questions, the easier it is for him/her to attempt the paper with confidence.
  2. CLAT (UG) is conducted in offline mode. There are total 150 questions of 150 marks which candidates need to complete in two hours duration. The questions in the exam are comprehension based objective type questions.
  3. The pattern for LLM is such that the paper consists of both objective and subjective questions from various law subjects. However, the consortium has removed the descriptive section from the exam. So, there will be a total of 120 objective type questions in the exam which candidates will have to attempt in the duration of 120 minutes.
  4. CLAT Exam Syllabus includes important topics from which questions are asked in the exam. In CLAT (UG), questions are generally asked from five subjects- English Language, Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, General Knowledge and Current Affairs including Quantitative Techniques.
